Bisons, back2back- May.18, 2013 (by Pekka) What a great basketball season we had here in Finland.

The finals then?

The finals then?
Best of five, and all those five games needed, upsets, huge crowds, intensity, tradition It was great time to be a basketball fan.
At the end the Bisons (Loimaa) took the championship but KTP did not give them anything easy, they played hard, they played smart and really physical.
The Bisons had all the answers and had different people stepping up different times and they played great defense!
Have to congratulate all the winners, especially all my former players: Onnea!
For Yours truly this last couple of weeks have been full of recruiting, decision making and also some (much needed) time off.
Lets see what kind of a team we will have at Tapiolan Honka next year..I am excited!
My next task will be planning the U20 national team program , we will have our first camp at the beginning of June.
My staff looks great: Greg Gibson, the championship coach (Bisons) and the shooting guard of Kataja, Petri Virtanen
Conditining coach Jussi Hirvonen has worked with our senior NT for like 10 years and at Frankfurt and at MBC and
It will be a priviledge to work with these guys!
Respect the game

At the buzzer!- May.3, 2013 (by Pekka) It was not easy, it was not beautifulbut it was a Win and it was a win that took us (back) to the league.
So we beat Porvoo 3-1 and took the title, I am so happy and proud of my guys!
Malik Moore made the last shot, but we had a lot of heroes, especially at the defensive end of the floor.

Everything around the team has been amazingly professional, the front office, the medical staff...
And how about the fans, what has happened here? 1200 spectators was our average in the play-offs. Kiitos!
Next year?
I will be coaching Tapiolan Honka.
We have already some players signed, but there is a lot of work ahead of us.
However, right now it is time to celebrate and have a short break.

This should be fun- Apr.19, 2013 (by Pekka) And Porvoo takes all the fun out of it. And this is a compliment of highest level.
They are so well prepared and focused and they are destroying our game flow totally and attacking our weaknesses big time ...I am impressed!
Talking about Finnish division 1 finals , of course. Yes , we managed to take the second game by three points, so now the finals are tied at 1-1, but like said, it was far from easy. Needed a HUGE offensive performance from our sg Malik Moore and a lot of luck [read more] | |

So now we are in a best of three situation and we will have the next one at Porvoo on Monday. We realize that we need to steal one away game, but how?
We will try to find a way to take Tarmo away from their comfort zone, we will try to find a way to speed up the game without them getting any breaks (U should see this Vernon Taylor dude in the open court). Other key things for us will be ball movement offensively and denying that ball movement defensively.
Tell U the truth: THIS IS FUN: Two good teams really going hard, playing well in front of a lot of people and this is basketball, and this is happening in Finnish second division!
Gotta go to watch some tape, will be back soon, hopefully as a winner.
Respecting the game
