The first part of the season is over and going into the Christmas break, Arantia Larochette remained unbeaten and are looking more and more like the team to beat in the playoffs for the fight for going up to the Total League. Kordallsteelers are not far behind winning 7 in a row before the break. BC Mess and Telstar have also pretty much secured their places in the playoffs and Grengewald emerges as the strongest team for chances to stay in National 2.

Telstar Hesperange gave Arantia Larochette quite a scare in the final game before Christmas break in Luxembourg's National 2. Telstar dominated in the 2nd quarter and took a 38-32 lead going in to half time. after the 3rd period, Telstar still led by 3 at 55-52. Despite a 13 point effort in the final stanza by Telstar's Prince Foster, Telstar cam up short and lost by 2 to the host Arantia Larochette. Foster ended up with 29 to lead the visitors in scoring. Pierce Cumpstone was held to 11 points, Chris Miller added 16. For Arantia, the league leader, Xavier Pollard led the way with 30 points followed by Ladarius Tab with 27. With the 75-72 home win, Arantia remained unbeaten in 2017.

In Soleuvre, Bryan Jefferson (25 points) fouled out with a few minutes remaining to give Kordallsteelers a chance to capitalise in his absence and the visitors took the nail-biter by one point on the road 97-96 to win their 8th in a row going into Christmas break. Aides Howard-Davis led Zolwer with a 41 point effort in Soleuvre's last chance to make the playoffs. Benni Reichling added 13. For Kordallsteelers, imports Marcus Neal and Antonio Bivens scored 42 and 39 points respectively. Contributing 10 points was Max Schmit. In a strong 2nd place, Kordallsteelers assure their spot in the playoffs.

Still playing with 3 American imports, Black Star took another hit on the chin at Grengewald. John Irwin scored 18, James Fleming scored 26, and Duane Johnson led with 29. Grengewald's Ronald March Jr. led all scorers with 36 and Shaquille Dance threw in 21. Captain Yannick Julien added 20. Grengewald went into the break winning 4 of their last 5 matches. The final score was 90-82.

Bascharage Hedgehogs had no problem with Black Frogs Schieren 74-56, who were still looking for their first win. Stefan Stefanovic led Black Frogs with 20. Steve Mersch was the leader for Bascharage with18 points. Aaron Harrison and William Cardarelli Jr. scored 15 each and Olivier Summer added 10 for the visitors.

In the Playdowns to see who will remain in or go up to the Total League for next season, all teams remained in there same positions as last week. Racing Luxembourg won with only one of their two imports against Telstar. BC Mess got a big win at home against BBC US Hiefenech Heffingen. Kordallsteelers played their worst half of the season but still remain in a good position with the Telstar loss to Racing Luxembourg. The last round of the National 2 Qualifications were played last weekend. Four teams emerge to the top and will now fight to go up to the Total League for next season. They are: Arantia Larochette 18-0, Kordallsteelers 15-3, Telstar Hesperange 11-7 and BC Mess 10-8. Here are the results of the final round. It's official! Arantia, Kordallsteelers, Telstar and BC Mess now make the playoffs to see who goes up to the Total League for next season! It came to a special criteria between the clubs of BC Mess and AS Zolwer, the 4th and 5th place teams tied with a 10-8 record each. They each won their games against each other at home by ten points.
