I'm Back - Feb 4, 2013
What's up Eurobasket fam,
I'm back for my second post. Yesterday was my first home game here in Plav. It was definitely long over due, the pressure was on being that Ive been here 3 weeks and no one has seen me play a minute. The atmosphere in the gym was unreal mostly because everyone came to see me play. To my understanding that has been there biggest turn out since starting this team. We were up against Our local rival Berane who is only a 30 minute drive up the road. Definitely a win-able game for us. We went down early but fought back through the whole game. The anticipation for me to score was crazy. As one of my teammates got doubled teamed on the wing, he passed it I attacked and did a reverse lay-up; and the crowd erupted with "Kris! Kris! Kris! " chants. Anytime I touched the ball whether it was a steal, block, rebound, assist, a regular pass they went crazy. But nothing like when I got a fast break dunk. I honestly wanted to have a great outing in my first home game. Show the people my heart and passion And love for the game. And that I did, no official stats yet but I believe I finished with a double double 10+ rebounds and 5 blocks and a few assists and steals. Although my night ended early due a confrontation with another player In a tussle for the ball, the player swinged on me as we fell to the floor. How I was brought on basketball you never let know one take the ball from you at all cost. But when you swing means you were trying to harm me. Me being aware of fines, I just got up real fast turned my body. I guess the other team thought I was going to stoop to his level retaliate, but I didn't and I still got ejected. I was upset cause my team needed me in that last 4 min stretch. But before getting ejected as I walked to the bench the crowd started the "Kris! Kris! Kris! " chants again but it was non-stop.'so as I left the gym and headed to the locker room I walked along the crowd and fans were jumping on me , slapping 5's, and screaming my name. My whole basketball career I was a role player and now being one of the main options , so this all new to me and I'm learning to embrace my role on this team. I'm truly humbled and all the love I received is well appreciated. And my game is only on the rise, I will continue to leave it all on the floor and play my heart out!
Go Strsljen!
hope you all enjoyed,Deuces till next time

Teamwork make the dream work!- Feb.28, 2013 (by Kristin) So this weekend we matched against another zeta team who isn't doing so well record wise. Going to any game we always favored as the underdogs. I've learned that being the underdog is not always a bad thing; pressure isn't on us really it's much more on the other team. Who wants to lose to the team with zero wins. Nobody! On paper this team wasn't that much better then us as well. But we always start up slow in every game. So this weekend we matched against another zeta team who isn't doing so well record wise.
But we manage to keep it close. Anchored by my defensive prowl. We got stops and extra offensive possessions. Honestly this was the best game we played as a whole team. We stayed together the entire game. Although the game was stopped to due to the weather conditions outside thunder and lighting messed with the power we had a 20 min wait during halftime. But that didn't stop us as at all. We continue our rolled and the intermission seemed like it never happened. The game was tight, I just kept telling my teammates that "if we don't open this game up. The refs are going to take it from us" and that they did. Refs usually favor the other team for some reason. There calls were very bad and unfair to us because, it wasn't even. Alen my Point guard came down and hit a 3 that put us up 2 or 1 I believe. But the team came right back and got fouled as soon as they attacked the basket. So in the closing seconds coach called a play for Milo's (shooting guard) me pick and roll; if he didn't get a way to get the ball to me off the screen it was for me to post.
So balls in play we run the screen and roll. Milo's came off the screen and he had a clear path to the basket which tied the game. Next play down, refs called another foul in there favor now Zeta is up two with 30 something seconds left. We manage to inbound the ball and get fouled. Milo's at the line for 2, he takes a deep breath shoots and misses the 1st one as soon as he missed the lights went out in the gym again. When he missed the free throw our whole team spirits just declined dramatically. We had 30 minute intermission due to the light situation with only 12.5 seconds left. Even if we had a chance to win our bodies were no longer warm and muscles weren't loose any more. Odds were truly against us.
Although this was my toughest loss of the season because it was in our hands. It was snatched at the last few moments of the game. I'm truly happy in my teams play for the first time since being here in Montenegro everyone showed heart, passion and a strong love for the game. That's why I named this post Teamwork make the dream work. If we play out the season with that kind of heart and teamwork we can pull off some major wins for this ball club before this season is over.
Shoutout to my team "STRSLJEN"

Tough times don't last, Tough people do!- Feb.20, 2013 (by Kristin) So I know I missed a week, so I have a lot to touch base on. On another note we took two more tough losses. The toughest thing for me is losing this much;coming from successful programs in the united states. Losing is something I will never settle for or sit right with me.

I'm learning that each game has a valued lesson in it for me as I continue my pro career. Dealing with many trails and tribulations adjusting to life here, I use basketball as an escape goat. Games here have been interesting for me, a lot of my opponents are allowed to play dirty and do anything to extra to get and edge on me. It's almost like I I can't retaliate because I am so vocal and aggressive on the floor. The referees are always watching me but are blind to what other do to me down low in the paint. Growing up and playing basketball in Brooklyn if you were soft you were called out immediately ; and you had a long summer in the park or long season on the hardwood. I honestly I love a physical game but it's really getting out of hand because games are not called fair at all, it just making me more aggressive and hungrier.
Sundays home game great turn out . Fans are really getting into basketball now. It's like I give them a since of hope for our ball club. Although I didn't have the strongest outing because of two early fouls sat me out early. Which really messed up my rhythm and makes me passive for the entire first half. But also being doubled in the post every time I touched the ball. I never been doubled like that in the post but obviously I take the double team and make the smart pass and re post. It's more of me finding other ways to score the ball and be effective on the offensive end. I have to find that good balance of aggression and playing smart.
My goal here is to at least get wins a game and be apart of team history before I depart Montenegro after the season.
HUNGRY,HUMBLE,NEVER SATISFIED,
