I'd Rather Make Mistakes Trying Than Never Trying At All - Dec 25, 2012
Life is full of things that we sometimes call obstacles. We all go through our fair share of them throughout our life, whether its being something minor or serious. But it's not the obstacles that's the problem but how we deal with them at that certain time. I'm sure everybody's parents gave you the same speech about what doesn't kill you will only make you stronger, and I didn't really care to understand what that meant when I was younger. But when you grow up and experience different culturals you understand this quote first hand. Some people lay down and complain and others get so flustered that they begin to think in a negative way through out life. On the other hand it's people that thrive in bad situations and negativity and we all know that to get through these problems we have to try so hard that sometimes mistakes are made. Those people on the outside looking in always have something negative to say about how and why you didn't achieve or beat that obstacle at that time. But ain't that the beauty of it? People will always try to find a way to throw stones at your life and tell us how it can be better, but in all actuality they want to walk a life in your shoes. So to those people out there that always want to be that sour apple in a barrel; I'd rather make mistakes TRYING than never trying at all. I pick up where I left off in my last blog. After we beat Kutasi we beat the leagues Eurochallenge team Armia in a nail biter at home. Our crowd really gave us that extra motivation to get that important win at home. That week I cashed in my token for Eurobasket Player of The Week, which is a great accomplishment for us basketball players abroad. We ended our first half (first stage) of the season beating Batumi as well which put us tied for 1st place in the league. Batumi was a well needed adventure that me and my family needed, just to be able to get away during and before the holidays. Batumi is a very nice city in the far western region of Georgia which borders the Black Sea. We got a chance to walk the sea coast and it was an amazing view, but the black sea beach is nothing like beaches at home. But still it was a blessing to experience the diners, bars, views and life in Batumi for a few days. During the game it actually was earthquake that clocked in at 5.8 magnitude which actually shifted the gym. It was quite the experience with all the commotion going on in the gym, people running and screaming. If it wasn't for the Black Sea upsorbing some of the shock than the magnitude would of been even more dangerous and bigger, but we where blessed to finish the game and got a good win; 107-75. Eurobasket provided me with Eurobasket Player of The Week award again for the third time this year. I had a solid game having 25PTS, 13REBS, 7AST and 7STLS. Hell of way to end the first half of the season. Me, my girl and my teammate joined another American player; Arch and his family for Christmas dinner. It's always nice to link up with another American family and enjoy the holidays that you love and are use to back at home. We have a nice break in January to really regroup and go back to the basics as well as getting better as a team to ensure a better second half of the season. Looking forward to enjoying my time off and with my family. Happy holidays to my friends overseas as well as back home. Always remember: Never let someone tell you that you can't do nothing. If you have a dream you have to protect it. If people can't do or accomplish their own dreams they love to tell you that you can't accomplish yours.

Edward Scissorhands Lives In The Republic of Georgia- Apr.8, 2013 (by Nate) Going into a fresh season all athletes set a few goals for themselves to accomplish by the end of the season. Some people might want to win a championship, others scoring title and for some just to make the playoffs. But for me I wanted to show the world that I'm an all around basketball player. Going into a fresh season all athletes set a few goals for themselves to accomplish by the end of the season. Some people might want to win a championship, others scoring title and for some just to make the playoffs. But for me I wanted to show the world that I'm an all around basketball player. I wanted to lead the league in steals this season. I worked hard this off season on man to man defense as well as trying to get a jump on every pass that's thrown in the air. How ever I do it or get it, I try to pick up ever lose ball and steals. If you have the same offensive skills as Bernard King or Adrian Dantley but are a defensive liability than why are you on the court. Your hurting the team more than helping the team. Its hard for a coach to have confidence in you or even play you if you cant play defensive. I was talking to a editor this passed week and was referred to as having quicker hands than Edwardscissor Hands. I chuckled as I embellished the compliment. When other people notice things you have been working hard to improve on it makes you go even harder on and off the court. As of now I'm leading the league in a few categories including steals. For some of you people that don't know who Edward Scissorhands is, it's basically a romantic comedy of a artificial guy that's not fully finished and has scissors for his hands. He is taken in by a family and falls in love with the daughter. This character is played by Johnny Depp. Check it out in your free time and you will understand the metaphor that's used in this article.
As of now I'm on a short vacation visiting my friend Leo Lyons in Kiev. He plays for the Eurocup team Budivelnyk. Showing some support for his first playoff game tonight. The Republic of Georgia is very close to Ukraine and is about a 2hour flight. Currently Rustavi Energy (my team) has one game left in the regular season before the all-star break and the playoffs begin in a few weeks. Stay tune as we try to iron out the kinks and prepare for the playoffs.
Until next time always remember: If we can do what we can do, than God will always do what we can not do.

Most People Love The Sun, But I Beg For Rain. This Is When I'm At My Very Best- Mar.19, 2013 (by Nate) A lot of people shine only in the best opportunity that someone has given them, but very few people shine when the opportunity isn't the ideal nor typical situation. A great basketball player can turn any situation into a bright spot but many athletes don't posses this kind of character. If your back is against the wall and you have no where to go, will you knock down that wall and prosper against all odds or will you fall and crumble, complain or give up [read more] | |
A lot of people shine only in the best opportunity that someone has given them, but very few people shine when the opportunity isn't the ideal nor typical situation. A great basketball player can turn any situation into a bright spot but many athletes don't posses this kind of character. If your back is against the wall and you have no where to go, will you knock down that wall and prosper against all odds or will you fall and crumble, complain or give up. Sure a lot of people had the easy road when it comes to making a career out of basketball but those people also hit road blocks. And that's when you really see their true colors. So for those people out there that is struggling to succeed in sports or every day life, you need not to worry because your use to adversity. You only can be down for so long with out finally being able to breath and see that wall in the rear view window crumble. Everything I do or write is from experiences either in the past or present. So ifI can do one thing in this world. It would want to at least inspire one person. Because its not how bad you want something. How bad you want something is meaningless, it's pointless if how bad you willing to work for the thing you want isn't 10 times as intense as how bad you want it. I can't sell you desire, I can't bottle up passion and give it to you in a form of some magic potion. Only thing that can quench hunger is more hunger. In every trial and tribulation everything we go through is necessary in life. Because its the lesson we get from these things that most people can't and can not endure. So this very blog is dedicated to people out there that really haven't tasted the fine wine in life, but so close to tasting it that their mouth gets watery. You can wake up every day and wish your life was better or wish your situation in sports is better. But no one can change that but YOU.
I'm very blessed to have a good group of people surrounding me in my career. Including my family, AG and E (my agents), 2DaHole, and also my small circle of friends. When you surround yourself with people that knows what struggle taste like than that taste will become real bitter in the future.
Always Remember:Your thoughts are more powerful than anything in this world. And this will determine your future. We become what we think.
