Hello fans,
It's been an intense week with practices, and other training to prepare for yesterday game on the road against Kauhajoki. Everyone began the week with a different mindset of what we were focusing unto what to do, which was get better as a team and take an important victory on the road against a team that is well known for playing hard. It all started off with the game being a rally back and forth, competing on both ends of the court. With Kauhajoki trying to pressure our guards, and trap, we handled the pressure well and was able to get some great looks and shots within our offense. With that being said, our defense was actually well ran and the intensity was at a high level within both teams. First half, we entered the locker room down by 5 points. We where not to worried because we have been in situations as this before, but our main goal was to just continue to attack, rebound, and play team defense. Third quarter arrives and the opposing team goes on a little run, which got their momentum going and they began to feel confident and controlled over the game. We ended up trailing down by 15 points, which began to look like things where going to go in the wrong direction. Our coaches gathered us together and helped us regroup and changed the game plan a little and we where right back into the game, and the intensity was on another level than it was in the first half. When the intensity is high, the game starts to get even more interesting because the score is close, the crowd is obnoxious, and the benches are cheering for their teams to finish and make plays to help them win. It all comes down to the wire in the fourth quarter with us being down by 3 points, with them having possession of the ball. I can see on our faces that we where ready to play this one hard possession with all we got so we could get the ball and tie the ball game. With that being said we did accomplish are mission and got a steal and knocked down the 3 to tie the ball game. Six seconds left on the clock and the gym rocking with all of the noise, they miss the shot attempt and overtime we go. Our second over time this season, and the thing was for us is to see if we have the toughness and heart to complete the game on the road and finish off with the victory. Our goal was accomplished. In overtime, we totally controlled the game offensively, and defensively which gave us a great road victory. I had a pretty good game finishing with 26 points and 9 rebounds. A great win for Lappeeranta Namika Hoops. Now we put this win in the books and prepare these next couple of days for our next game at home. Until then, that is all I have.. Thank you for reading my blogs and I hope you continue to read them.

Staying Together- Feb.10, 2013  (by Greg)

Hello basketball fans. It has been a few weeks since I have posted a blog, so I figured I would take some time today to catch up. The last few weeks has been a little bit of a struggle for us as a team due to injuries, which caused use to lose a couple of games. I have stepped up as a player since the Christmas break, and tried to give more to the team in every aspect. For those who have seen, I really have stepped up in ever category, and helping the team out a lot [read more]
