Back in action in a new country, the Republic of Georgia. For those who don't know where that is, if you look on a map it is between Russia and Turkey. So this gives the country a wide variety of different cultures. For some people the country might be a bit of a culture shock because it's not your normal European country. Due to the fact that Russia and Georgia was having political disputes, leaving Georgia just recently in history their own country. So just recently they are building new facilities, and more tourist venues for us Americans as well as Europeans from the west. I have no problem fitting into the culture and country due to many years of playing overseas but for some people it will be a bit difficult, as well as being overseas anywhere. But these are the things us professional basketball players overseas give up for our dream.
I been here for about a week now and my president and manager as well as coaches do everything to make me feel at home which is very nice and welcoming. We are about 20 mins away from Georgia's capital called Tbilisi. I live in Rustavi a smaller town with about 150,000 people dwelling in it so it's not to small but at the same time it's not to big. So it's a comfortable size for me coming from a few million people in the Kansas City area. The team is made up of mostly U20 players and a few other older guys from other countries. To be honest they got some game which was surprising, so I think we could have some fun this season. Today we will be attending the national team of Georgia vs Bosnia which probably will be a good game because Bosnia is #1 in the Group and Georgia is #2. So if either team wins today they will for sure qualify for Olympics (FIBA European Basketball). Each team also have a few Americans playing for their national teams. Georgia has Jacob Pullen former K-State alumni and Corey Fisher former Villanova alumni and also Bosnia has Zack Wright.
Here in a few weeks we will have a tournament down in Azerbaijan which will be exciting for me to visit another country that I heard much about. So the season will pick up from their with cup games and than regular season. One of the best things about playing is having a conversation with your coaches and presidents and getting the understanding that they want to compete in euro challenge or euro cup next year. So they are aiming for something great which can determine a persons whole mind set.

For those out there thats still grinding and wanting more in life, hang in there. And also remember many people set small goals because they're afraid to fail. Ironically, setting these small goals is what makes them fail.

Doing big things with my endorsement company 2 DaHole (Richard Rivera). Coming to a magazine near you. Ya check out his apparel and embroidery company. You can add him on Facebook.

Edward Scissorhands Lives In The Republic of Georgia- Apr.8, 2013  (by Nate)

Going into a fresh season all athletes set a few goals for themselves to accomplish by the end of the season. Some people might want to win a championship, others scoring title and for some just to make the playoffs. But for me I wanted to show the world that I'm an all around basketball player. I wanted to lead the league in steals this season. I worked hard this off season on man to man defense as well as trying to get a jump on every pass that's thrown in the air [read more]
Most People Love The Sun, But I Beg For Rain. This Is When I'm At My Very Best- Mar.19, 2013  (by Nate)

A lot of people shine only in the best opportunity that someone has given them, but very few people shine when the opportunity isn't the ideal nor typical situation. A great basketball player can turn any situation into a bright spot but many athletes don't posses this kind of character. If your back is against the wall and you have no where to go, will you knock down that wall and prosper against all odds or will you fall and crumble, complain or give up [read more]
