The Young boys (U16) took the gold medals in Solna. Huge improvement, some good prospects and a lot of fun. It was nice to be an assistant coach/mentor for Coach Tuominen.
Old fact is that when U are trying to teach the young ones U always learn Yourself. This was so true with this project. Thanks coaches Tuominen and Nyknen and all the players.

Enough with past, back to the future: On Monday starts the next project, U20 national team. We will have a good team with nice balance. The guards are really good and we will have hard working big men which is always nice. The big thing for our team is that we will be really tall and good in position 3 where our big names (Alex Murphy 204cm and Joonas Caven 211cm) will cause problems for our opponents.
This program will be such a great thing for everybody involved, really looking forward to start of the camp.

On my last posting I was not able to tell my new club address, but here it is: Tapiolan Honka. Finnish D1 (second level).
The team will be good , with experience, shooters, good size and a lot of great young prospects and what is really important, a great coaching staff.
The club then? It has a beautiful own arena with three basketball courts, excellent youth coaches ,good young players, good organization, tradition, nice over all respect for the game/atmosphere, team in the ladies league.... One thing missing: Team in the mens league. There is the mission and goal, said loud and clear.
But we want to make it understanding that our club is absolutely the biggest and best youth program in Finland. We want to make sure our own guys will get the chance, they are good enough. Honka has produced some great players in the past; like Petteri Koponen and Sasu Salin, and we want to keep on helping the young talents, respecting the values and tradition of Tapiolan Honka.

Now it is time to go (to watch....NBA basketball on TV)

PS
Today (Saturday) has been high school graduation day in Finland. Visited my Honka players that graduated: Kalle Naapi, Daniel Dolenc and Ville Puotila. Guys: Congratulations one more time!

HYVAA JOULUA- Dec.26, 2012  (by Eurobasket Center)

Hello there, it is time for a little break, time to spend time with family and relax, but as a coach time to look back, analyze-learn and starting preparations for the games after the break. Basketball has been is a struggle lately, the results ( three game losing streak!) are one thing, but even more worrying is our health situation [read more]
Its been a long time since..- Oct.23, 2012  (by Eurobasket Center)

No excuses, by bad, mitt fel, mun vika. Have no reason what so ever for this long an absence from this blog. Sorry! Any way, made it with the national team, had some great games (like beating Belgium by 37 and beating Poland at Koszalin) and finished at the top of the group with 6-2 record. So we will be in Slovenia to compete in the Eurobasket 2013 and compete , not participate , is the main word here [read more]
The Next Chapter.- Aug.28, 2012  (by Eurobasket Center)

Its been a very long time since I last posted on this blog. Ive had a battle back and forth to whether Ill even continue playing the great game of basketball as a professional. Getting to this point has been a lifelong dream of mine, one I have pictured over and over since I was a little kid, so to hang up the sneakers now seems surreal. But it appears that I may not have a choice and Ill let what will be, be and know that it will work out. So here is why Ive come to this point [read more]
