On the road, again! - Apr 21, 2012

Made the semifinals by beating Karhu 3-1 after a strange series.: We beat them twice by +20 pts, they absolutely demolished us once and at the end we took the decisive game by 10. So there was no close games like U would expect in playoffs, but who cares we beat a good team (especially Clevin Hannah and Kelly Beidler were extremely hard to handle) and we have to be proud of that.

Anyway that is history, back to present: I am writing this sitting in a team bus,. We are on our way to Joensuu where the home team Kataja waits for us.
It is time to start the semifinals. So first game today (Saturday), then Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Sunday. Best of five, like all play-offs series in Finland.

There are a lot of interesting facts around this series:
-Kataja is loaded with good players, quality Americans and Finnish national team players, ToPo is loaded as well, with qualityyes, we are even deeper.
-Joensuu won the regular season easily and have played real well all season long. we had a lot of problems, but got our stuff together at the right time.
-Kataja has never won it, so there must be a lot of pressure in the beautiful city of Joensuu
-Jared Newson is a multitalented player one could say he is almost as good as our Justin Hawkins :-) . Seriously; this will be a great match-up, as will be the battle inside (Price-Mttl), and the fight for the right to party in position 4 (Kimmo Muurinen--Sami Lehtoranta). The back-court will belong to we may not have as many guards as Kataja, but Misters Griffin and Kyllnen are ready to challenge the trio: Petri Virtanen, BA Walker, Antti Kanervo.
-our dear opponents do have great shooters; Samuel Haanp, Juho Nenonen etc, but we do not have one single guys that cannot hit the outside shot when needed
-they have a great coach and their spacing is beautiful, have to admit that much, but lets see what do we have to match that

It will be a lot of fun despite five hour bus ride and a lot of bad stories told in the front of the bus (starring Mikko 'Daddy' Vilke, our director of basketball operations)

The players are taking a nap, will do the same.

Moikka!

HYVAA JOULUA- Dec.26, 2012  (by Eurobasket Center)

Hello there, it is time for a little break, time to spend time with family and relax, but as a coach time to look back, analyze-learn and starting preparations for the games after the break. Basketball has been is a struggle lately, the results ( three game losing streak!) are one thing, but even more worrying is our health situation [read more]
Its been a long time since..- Oct.23, 2012  (by Eurobasket Center)

No excuses, by bad, mitt fel, mun vika. Have no reason what so ever for this long an absence from this blog. Sorry! Any way, made it with the national team, had some great games (like beating Belgium by 37 and beating Poland at Koszalin) and finished at the top of the group with 6-2 record. So we will be in Slovenia to compete in the Eurobasket 2013 and compete , not participate , is the main word here [read more]
The Next Chapter.- Aug.28, 2012  (by Eurobasket Center)

Its been a very long time since I last posted on this blog. Ive had a battle back and forth to whether Ill even continue playing the great game of basketball as a professional. Getting to this point has been a lifelong dream of mine, one I have pictured over and over since I was a little kid, so to hang up the sneakers now seems surreal. But it appears that I may not have a choice and Ill let what will be, be and know that it will work out. So here is why Ive come to this point [read more]
