Road to the Playoffs - Mar 30, 2012

Well, monday we clinched first place for the regular season. In every sport you ultimately want to finish in first or at least as best as you can. This is a great accomplishment for our team and the city of Joensuu. We had a stint at the beginning of the month where we lost three consecutive road games. Earlier in the start of the season we also had lost three consecutive road games and then went on to win 19 straight games. At times i cant say that i am totally pleased how we play but we manage to win games and thats a good thing. The good teams make you pay for the mishaps and the mistakes you make and thats where our loses come from. Its hard for me to explain to the people who follow me behind the scenes and supporters who only look at eurobasket to check stats and see that my performance has went down. As a leader you have to make a sacrifice. Mid-season we acquired two new additions. With these two additions i knew that things would change a little bit. My touches would be decreased and our style of basketball would change a bit. Yes i went from 19.5 to 18.1 ppg, yes i went from 9.5 to 8.7 rebs per game. But yes we are still in first place. I havent changed as a player. Im still that person who was leading the league in double doubles, my percentages are still high and my efficiency is still high. Just the touches arent as much as they were. Some people dont understand and wouldnt be happy about it if they were in my position. In the beginning it was slightly frustrating but at the end of the day im here for ONE goal. WINNING. So if at the end of the day, my touches get decreased and we win it all then im all for it. Theres two rounds i believe left in the regular season. Teams are still fighting for spots, trying to implement new tactics, getting players healthy, and trying to finish as strong as they can. It will be interesting how things turn out and who faces who for the playoffs. Its getting a little warmer now so that means i can pack up these thermals and wool gloves and bring out the V-neck white tees and fitted shirts. Naw, its not that hot yet but at least i can pack these winter clothes up. To the NCAA. Im happy i didnt fill out a bracket this year cause after the first round i probably wouldve been throwing things around my apartment. Im a UCONN fan and after they lost i was happy for all of the other upsets. I dont have any favorites to win it all right now, im just being a basketball fan and watching. Whoever wins i will be happy for them and keep it moving. While i have the time i want to say congratulations to my old team Brose Baskets Bamberg in germany for winning the cup for the second year in a row. They are having a hell of a season and are the favorites to win it all once again. Before i go, make sure you buy your Kataja Baskets Basketball Calender to help support our junior teams. Its NOT your typical calender. If you have one already then you know what im talking about.

God Bless

HYVAA JOULUA- Dec.26, 2012  (by Eurobasket Center)

Hello there, it is time for a little break, time to spend time with family and relax, but as a coach time to look back, analyze-learn and starting preparations for the games after the break. Basketball has been is a struggle lately, the results ( three game losing streak!) are one thing, but even more worrying is our health situation [read more]
Its been a long time since..- Oct.23, 2012  (by Eurobasket Center)

No excuses, by bad, mitt fel, mun vika. Have no reason what so ever for this long an absence from this blog. Sorry! Any way, made it with the national team, had some great games (like beating Belgium by 37 and beating Poland at Koszalin) and finished at the top of the group with 6-2 record. So we will be in Slovenia to compete in the Eurobasket 2013 and compete , not participate , is the main word here [read more]
The Next Chapter.- Aug.28, 2012  (by Eurobasket Center)

Its been a very long time since I last posted on this blog. Ive had a battle back and forth to whether Ill even continue playing the great game of basketball as a professional. Getting to this point has been a lifelong dream of mine, one I have pictured over and over since I was a little kid, so to hang up the sneakers now seems surreal. But it appears that I may not have a choice and Ill let what will be, be and know that it will work out. So here is why Ive come to this point [read more]
