Assalaamu Alaikum Hello everyone! Our last game didn't finish well and Unfortunately, saturdays game ended in a loss for us. Hat goes off to Wydad's team. They executed well down the stretch and everytime we fought our way back in the match, they were able to stop our run and take advantage with there inside players. This week's training has been intense. Expecially when you come off a loss you want to try and bounce back stronger than before. Mondays practice was an all defensive practice which a loved. Of course, anyone who follows my career knows how much i like playing defense. My arizona college days were filled with great defensive workouts. Mondays practice reminded me a little of my college days. I just finished today's midday training with the team. We worked on Two new offensive sets today. I'm excited to see how well we can incorporate the new systems into our team sets for the next upcoming match against Hociema. With three games left remaining in the regular season this next road game should be a great challenge for our team. This week, and in particular this season for me. I have focused on improving my postup game. I always begin and end training with postup moves. It's paid off alot and ive seen improvement over the year. Im 6'5 and my naturally position that i've played my whole life is point guard or off guard. This season playing here in morocco i play the 3 position and sometimes depending on the lineup even the 4 spot. As For any guard out there looking to be a complete player. Working on your back to the basket game is a big advantage especially against smaller guard opponents. Easy match up problems for the other team and you can easily attack the basket or hit an open teammate for a easy shot if you have good back to basket skills. I humblely watch the great players use this technique effectively. (Kobe, Penny,Jordan, even Anre miller name a few).
As we look toward to the end of the week gearing up for this weekends game, training should slow back down so that the players can reserve energy. ' InchAllah khair' God willing, I hope i can get up a couple thousand shots from now till game time on saturday. Shooting is a huge aspect of the game and one can always improve there. I have'nt been shooting the ball well lately in practice and I'm my biggest critic. My shot can get better and i must continue to push myself everyday to become a great shooter. Everything is a continual work in progress to maximize your skills and expand your game. I'll close for now. I'm little tired but i need to hit the gym later tonight for another physical weight training workout. Not to happy about that right now but later i should be refreshed and ready to go again 'inchAllah'.
Look forward to updating you all about this weekends game 'inchAllah Khair' God willing we get the win saturday and pray that both teams don't have any injuries. To Everyone have a great rest of the week and be safe.
Salam 'Peace'
Chris

Cup Half Full- Apr.23, 2012 (by Eurobasket Center) Assalamu alaikum Hello world,

Assalamu alaikum Hello world,

What can I say classic Cup game last week between Sal and casablanca sport. Unbelievable game. One of the most crazy contraversial games I've ever experienced. We saw ourselves down by 20points by half time. Soon after the lead soared to almost a 30point margin mid 3rd quarter things started to change; And no surprise at the front of the pack there i was leading the defensive charge. Our defense picked up dramatically and we made a run that seemed to be unstoppable. By the end of the 3rd we cut the lead in half. Momentem was ours now as we chiped away at the lead. The game was now tied with 1mins left in the match. We had fought all the way back and Sal seemed to be frozen stuck in mudd they didnt know what hit them. With only one possesion left each for both teams, in came down to the last shot. We got the final stop and with 4secs to go we had a chance to close it out in regulation. The end bounds was underneath our basket which means we would need to dribble up full court in order to score. I recieved the ball under the basket and I took off immediately. As soon as i reached half court i got trapped by two opposing players so i give up the ball. As all of this is happenning another teammate is running beside me so instinctively i make a jump pass over the trap and pass him the the ball. He takes a shot from the corner a three pointer with 1sec on the clock but misses and we go into overtime! At this point in the match we still have the edge on ourside going into overtime. Everything was shifting in the right direction for us. Both teams score back and forth and once again it came down to the wire. But like all crazy unpredictable things in life and in sport a contraversial call was made by a referee with like .02 secs left in overtime with scored tied. Both teams we in the penalty at this point and so the ended up going to the freethrow line making one of two and only beating us by 1 point 77-76.
Although we lost this game you must take defeat with class and learn for your mistakes. The cup championship is out of our reach but the Cup is this half Full and not half empty.
Or is it the otherway around lol. Believe it not when i first heard that expression i didnt know what it meant and now here i am using it. Life is a trip aint it.
Anyways, Only playoffs remain and with the pool play still underway its either win or go home. I'll keep you posted on the last match ups of the season for the playoffs. Thanks again for reaching out to read my blog the support it means alot so thanks!
Take care everyone

Assalamu Alaykum, Hello world,
Quarterfinal round is over. Our team defeated Tanger twice. Saturday in Tanger and then yesterday in casablanca. It was great win especially on saturday to be able to go into hostile enviroment and beat them on their own court. Game was close from start to finish. Theme alert! Once again i was able to hit shots and make key defensive stops down the stretch of the game. We won by three points 70-73 which brings our winning streak to 4games. Trust me win i say im not getting too bigheaded or ahead of myself just because were on a role. Are semifinal game will be the biggest test for us in the cup championship tournament. We host Sal this saturday. They are still top team in the league. Don't think for a sec that they don't know how big this game is for them as well. They are going to try and sweep us. We have not won against them at all this year. So i know forsure we got trouble heading our way. Last time around we gave them a good fight but we had the wrong defensive strategies and bad offensive execution down the stretch. Resulting in them beating us at our place for the second time in a row. This time around hoping things will turn out differently inchalah. If we can rebound, play the right defense against them (man to man) and execute in the fourth quarter, I think we can get pay back.
I'll keep it short today and follow up soon inchalah with an update after the match this weekend. Intil than take care everyone!

Assalamu Alaykum Hello everyone,
Wasup world, your probably wondering why i got tgif's posted as my title blog. Well after the win on saturday my teammate from the cameroonian national team and I went out to T.G.I. fridays for dinner Notably Parfait Bitee (188-G-85, agency: Interperformances, college: Rhode Island); Shot out to the homie for coming out to watch my game showin love appreciate it homeboi;
Now to the average westerner they would be surprised to hear that there's american restaurants like T.G.I. fridays in morocco. People of course would assume the obvious one's like, mac do or pizza hut; Actually, the food was pretty of good. Casablanca has alot of nice restaurants as well as outlet spots right next to beach for shopping. The mall here which is the biggest in all of morocco is full of designer stores and very expensive shops; Great vacation mall to go and check out.
Basketball:
Saturday's game against Raja was once again a dogfight. Surprisely, the game actually went exactely how it happen the last time we played them. With there backs against the wall I new it would be a hard game from beginning to end. And just like the last game i was able to really give the team a boost at the right moments with 3 consective shots and defensive plays that helped us get over the hump as we pulled away down the stretch taking the game by 10points. My teammates this game really looked for me especially when i started heating up during the match. I was very pleased with how i came out of gates in attack mode; al hamdoulilah! I knew right away i was going to have a good night because the very first shot i took was money 'N da Bank' and i knew from then on I was going to step on there necks and apply pressure the whole night after that. But Still at the of the day hats off to Raja's team; you Got to give there team, the players, the coaching staff and their entire organization alot of credit for there competitive spirit; They are a past championship organization so i expected nothing less than a tough match and they showed that in how they fought to the end. As we ended their season, our season lives for another day. All praise be to Allah the one true God! The Creator of the heavens and earth. Maybe your reading this and thinking I'm saying 'thank God' like you hear all athletes saying in press interviews or at award shows. No! Its not the same thing. When i say it; it has different meaning to it because im saying it as a muslim. I'm thankful of every second, of every hour of everyday for my blessing and i show that by my 'salah' or prayer. Being a muslim is submitting to my creator which is what the word muslim means. By obtaining peace through Submission to Allah' The one true God' So, Just to clairify;FYI, just so people out there are not confused. im not just saying it just to be as other famous people on tv. Saying,'I want to thank God for letting me win' this or that an award or something.
I'll close for now on my way to the gym.
Next up in the cup game series, second round matchup vs Tangier: Inch'Allah ta Ala'a or 'IF God wills it' i will keep you posted world on how we do. Thanks again for your reading my blog and for your support intil next time take care! Assalamu Alaikum/peace be with you
