Strong Finish!!- Feb.29, 2012 (by Eurobasket Center) As we play our last couple of Domestic league games and our last game in International Competition, I have no choice but to be alittle disappointed.. We have about 6 games this season in both leagues combined that we have lost by 1 to 3 points. Those close games could have been the difference in us making the playoffs or not. In Europe, every basket and every possesion counts and nothing is over until the clock hits 0:00 in the fourth quarter [read more]
As we play our last couple of Domestic league games and our last game in International Competition, I have no choice but to be alittle disappointed.. We have about 6 games this season in both leagues combined that we have lost by 1 to 3 points. Those close games could have been the difference in us making the playoffs or not. In Europe, every basket and every possesion counts and nothing is over until the clock hits 0:00 in the fourth quarter. WIth that being said, my team is playing some good basketball at the moment winning our last two games and having a positive feeling towards our last games.. I really think we had the capabilities to beat any team in both leagues from best team to worst team but just end up coming short for whatever reasons.. There is always something to gain even in defeat. We cant dwell on past games ( good or bad), but make sure we fulfill our potential and take advantage of the opportunity we have in these last couple of games. We must finish strong..
On a personal note, I have enjoyed my time here in Mostar.. Everything might not have gone as planned but in Europe I am learning, making plans or having plans usually hurt me more than they help me. I have to live in the moment and make sure I do my job to best of my abilities and be ready for anything at anytime. There are ups and downs but how many people can say they are being paid to do a job that they love to do. I have met some good people here and have learned alot about the culture and history of Bosnia i Herzegovina. Even though I dont take many photographs, I have a lot of mental pictures that will last forever.
On a side note, my grandmother passed away on February 15 2012 and I would ask for you to send a prayer her way... RIP to all the grandmothers out there but a special RIP to the one and only: Lillie 'NANA' Barnett
Great Moments come from Great Opportunites..

Snowed IN!!!!!- Feb.4, 2012 (by Eurobasket Center) It has not snowed in Mostar, Bosnia& Herzegovina (the city Im currently playing in) in 4 years. This city is by the coast so the weather here is Mediterranean which means snow is very rare and rain is more common. But for the past 3 days, Mother Nature has called and snow has been falling rapidly and we are currently 3 ft deep and counting. That might not sound like a lot but I am not talking about inches, Im talking about when I walk Im taking steps and the snow is up to my knee [read more]
It has not snowed in Mostar, Bosnia& Herzegovina (the city Im currently playing in) in 4 years. This city is by the coast so the weather here is Mediterranean which means snow is very rare and rain is more common. But for the past 3 days, Mother Nature has called and snow has been falling rapidly and we are currently 3 ft deep and counting. That might not sound like a lot but I am not talking about inches, Im talking about when I walk Im taking steps and the snow is up to my knee. I have never seen anything like this so besides being a bit cold and literally snowed in the apartment its beautiful to watch.
On the first day it snowed, Megan said we should go to the supermarket and stock up with food because it could be a long couple of days inside the house. Mind you that the snow was about a foot high and falling, so walking to the store and walking back with groceries in hand wasnt ideal. But women know best and Im glad I listened to her because we would both be hungry right now. Cold and hungry is not a good combination.
On the basketball side of things, we are limited in our practice time and we actually had to reschedule our game that was originally set for tonight. The game was away and even though the city is only a 30 minute drive, it just wouldnt be safe to take the drive. So it looks like I am inside for the weekend with the snow not letting up anytime soon. Im sure other teams around the globe have been affected by the snow or other weather conditions, but when we do get back on the court, we have to make sure we concentrate and focus. Even though I wont be on the court this weekend, I will be in my apartment stretching and staying loose because cold weather makes injuries happen easier. I know its cold because when I wake up, my muscles and joints are a little sore and I would like to think Im still pretty young so I am just going to blame it on the cold weather. Until Next time,
Everyday is another opportunity to reach that Goal..

One Step at a Time- Jan.16, 2012 (by Eurobasket Center) The last 3 league games we have lost by a combined 6 points.. Each game by 2 points, we can look at that as a good or bad thing but either way it is unfortunate and we needed to get over the hump. In our last game we were able to get a close win by 1 point. Hopefully we can take that positive energy into our upcoming games and put some more wins together. We have to take one game, one possession at a time because everything counts [read more]
The last 3 league games we have lost by a combined 6 points.. Each game by 2 points, we can look at that as a good or bad thing but either way it is unfortunate and we needed to get over the hump. In our last game we were able to get a close win by 1 point. Hopefully we can take that positive energy into our upcoming games and put some more wins together. We have to take one game, one possession at a time because everything counts.. Each game is another opportunity to prove ourselves, to get better individually and to grow as a team.. The second part of the season has just begun and some teams are positioning themselves into a playoff spot and other teams are fighting for a chance to compete in the playoffs. Adversity is something that every team goes trough whether it be on the court or off the court. We have had players leave for various reasons but when we step on the court no one cares about the teams problems and there cant be any excuses. This is professional basketball and we have to be able to adapt and give 100 percent every time we step between the lines.
On a side note, I have no complaints with Life in Mostar.. The food here is fresh and natural and they have the best mandarins I have ever tasted. There is one fruit store in particular that I go to on a daily basis because I eat so many of them. They will never go out of business as long as Im here buying all the fruit out of the shop. Sometimes, the days here seem to run together and feels like a big blur but I am fortunate to have a partner here to keep me on my toes and make things less redundant.
I will check in soon with an update of my teams progress. In the meantime, Work hard because the competition is..
Great Moments come from Great Opportunities.. Every one gets an opportunity to make a difference, its on us whether or not we do something with the opportunity.
