Happy Holidays

Let me start by introducing myself to the basketball world. My name is Marcel Jones
and I am from Los Angeles, California. I played and graduated from Oregon State University
With a degree in Communications and have been playing professional basketball since
2008. Just like every basketball player s career across the world, there have been ups and downs, highs and lows but I couldnt be happier where I am in my life. I dont take one step nor do I take one day for granted as there are many situations that people go through that are far worse than mine.
I want to thank Eurobasket for asking me and giving me the opportunity to share my world through words and I hope the readers can appreciate my perspective of the life we call basketball. I know this is a European based website but every player across the world, young and old hopefully can relate to the stories I have lived and continue to create.
I currently play for HKK Zrinjski HT Mostar in Bosnia and we compete in the Bosnian domestic league along with the International Competition called the Balkan league. Our season has been up and down. We have had some good wins but also have had some close games that turned into tough losses. In Europe, as compared to the NBA, every game is important as there arent that many games on the schedule so every chance to step on the court must be taken advantage of.
This first blog is just a brief introduction of myself and over the next few blogs I will go more in depth with day in and day out situations that I find myself in. There are rewards to playing this beautiful game. We must live in the present, dont dwell on the past and be prepared for future opportunities.

Until next time,
Marcel

Strong Finish!!- Feb.29, 2012  (by Eurobasket Center)

As we play our last couple of Domestic league games and our last game in International Competition, I have no choice but to be alittle disappointed.. We have about 6 games this season in both leagues combined that we have lost by 1 to 3 points. Those close games could have been the difference in us making the playoffs or not. In Europe, every basket and every possesion counts and nothing is over until the clock hits 0:00 in the fourth quarter [read more]
Snowed IN!!!!!- Feb.4, 2012  (by Eurobasket Center)

It has not snowed in Mostar, Bosnia& Herzegovina (the city Im currently playing in) in 4 years. This city is by the coast so the weather here is Mediterranean which means snow is very rare and rain is more common. But for the past 3 days, Mother Nature has called and snow has been falling rapidly and we are currently 3 ft deep and counting. That might not sound like a lot but I am not talking about inches, Im talking about when I walk Im taking steps and the snow is up to my knee [read more]
One Step at a Time- Jan.16, 2012  (by Eurobasket Center)

The last 3 league games we have lost by a combined 6 points.. Each game by 2 points, we can look at that as a good or bad thing but either way it is unfortunate and we needed to get over the hump. In our last game we were able to get a close win by 1 point. Hopefully we can take that positive energy into our upcoming games and put some more wins together. We have to take one game, one possession at a time because everything counts [read more]
