Glenn Stokes
Hello everyone, I know it's been a minute but ' I'm Back'! For those who are new my name is Glenn, I am a small point guard who dreamed, believed and achieved a bit of success. Since a young boy I made my mind up to follow my heart and pursue a passion of mine. At that point my mind was made up; which was to do whatever it took to reach my full potential and becoming the best basketball player I could be. Through blood, sweat and tears; nothing or no one was gonna rain on my parade or shatter my dreams. Whether it was those days of going to the courts in the rain or snow to work on my shot or those late night/early mornings after talking trash with my boys and us going to the courts at like 3am after playing video games. Maybe it was the fact that I didnt wanna accept the cliche ' that you had to be tall to play' and or I didnt wanna believe those who would say that I was good but I was too small to take it far... I just know that I never lost sight of my dream to someday receive a college scholarship and play professionally!!!! Well now it's 2011 and I am playing my 10th season as a professional basketball player.

I haven't blogged since March, right before the playoffs in the Dutch Basketball League. I will recap how the season ended for us and update you all on what I have been up to and where i am now. First of all, we lost in the playoffs to Groningen. I finished the season as the leagues scoring leader, third in assists and steals, along with being in the top 5 in other categories... Anyone who knows me well knows that the most important thing for me is winning and doing whatever it takes to help put my team in a position to win. Therefore, individual accomplishments are alright but finishing the season without winning a championship or atleast reaching the finals is disappointing to me and I'll trade any award or individual accomplishment in for it any day!!!!! So to say the least I've been stuck with the sour feeling from losing rather than the satisfaction of my personal accomplishments.

After the season finished I was excited about one thing..... That was spending time with my beautiful daughter Londyn. I made it a point to spend as much time as possible with her being that playing overseas cost me so much daddy time! I even contemplated retiring and staying as close to her as possible. During the summer I played in some pro am leagues to stay in tip top shape just in case I couldn't stay away from the game. While playing in the Nike Pro City summer league at Georgetown University I broke my ankle!!! Right then I thought it was God's way of making my decision to retire easier for me.. I broke my ankle on July 26th and was forced to give the game up for 8-10 weeks... So from July 26th to October 20th I was done. Finally, after about 3 months I started to workout again but going very light and being very careful. I was getting offers while I was in the boot but I never told anyone in the basketball world about my injury. I finally signed with an old team of mine in Mexico ( barreteros de Zacatecas), where I am now in pursuit of winning a championship!

I hope everyone enjoyed this blog and will continue to read my blogs. You can also follow me on twitter at @GmoneyStokes. Until next time... Peace!
