Whats good yall? Finally got around to writing this blog. It took longer to do, due to a terrible case of #jetlagg I have been here (Guadalajara, Spain) fora little over a week now. I took video of my neighborhood, and my place, to give yall a feel of what things are looking like over here. Spain is a very beautiful place, never have I been in a place where you can walk down the street and see castles! As far as basketball, Spain LEB Silver is a great league with great players. Within the 1st few days we had a game, but I was unable to play due to clearance regulations. However I was able to watch my team play against Avila. Shot out to Charles Ramsdell (208-F/C-85, agency: Court Side, college: Tulsa), he played with heart, and led his team to victory in overtime. The 1st game I played in was against ADT Tarragona. Another talented team, and all I can say is Im still adjusting to the referees and the style of play in Spain. My teammates are great and friendly so I know we will get a long great. Our coach is very passionate, and defensively minded; which complements my style of play. However, I am a player whose last job was about 7 months ago.. so Im still trying to get into game shape, so im doing extra on the off days, and before practice to catch up faster. The good news is each day Im getting better and better. Enjoy the video be #BLESSED, and stay tuned, Im going to try to do this every week. (P.S. I still have lots of food to try!!)

Last Days in Spain- Apr.22, 2011 (by Eurobasket Center) This will be my last time writing from Spain, the season is over and my work is done here. The 6 games I did play helped me get better. We played the 5 top teams in the league, meaning the best competition LEB SILVER had to offer. It was definitely a learning experience, and a chance to become mentally tougher. My teammates were great and I plan on keeping in touch with them, overall it was a great experience that I wouldnt trade for the world. So much has happened since I last wrote [read more]

My teammates were great and I plan on keeping in touch with them, overall it was a great experience that I wouldnt trade for the world. So much has happened since I last wrote. We traveled to Andorra, then the following week we played our last game was against CB Illescas Urban CLM, and we got the W. That win saved our team from dropping into a lower league (EBA). I got some footage from the trip to Andorra that I mixed in with some stuff I did on the days before my flight. Arrival on American soil means my offseason starts, considering I had 5 days of off-time before my flight was scheduled to leave. Until next time people.

Also I made a short highlight of a few of my games I played in.

Another Road Trip....- Apr.6, 2011 (by Eurobasket Center) Whats up everyone finally got back to blog thing. This past weekend we had another road trip. Another 8 hour one at that. This time we traveled to Andorra , which is its own country but still in Spain. Its like the equivalent to Puerto Rico, how its still a part of the United States but has its own government. I must say Andorra was one of the most beautiful places Ive seen since my stay in Spain. Keeping in mind Im yet to visit Barcelona or Madrid [read more]
Whats up everyone finally got back to blog thing. Keeping in mind Im yet to visit Barcelona or Madrid.Andorra is full like a mountain place with mountains everywhere and house s even inside of the mountains. Its hard to explain, I can show you better in a video but I wont have it ready till the weekend..In the game against B.C. River Andorra I feel like I made progress from last game but it wasnt enough. We ended up losing the game there so it seemed like the road trip back was even longer. All I know is this next game is seeming like must win. Aside from the games, Im happy to say the weather is warming up in Guadalajara so I can finally wear some of the shorts Ive packed. Lol Early tonight I watched the movies Ip Man and Ip Man 2 I can say they are the best kung fu movies Ive seen, they are about the trainer of Bruce Lee. Only got a few weeks left here so Im going to continue to go hard and try to finish things out on a positive note. Well thanks for reading and check back soon for the video

So every so often on this blog, I will post some pics and/or descriptions of some quality food that I've encountered throughout my time in Spain. Anyone who knows the Spanish knows that they take enormous pride in good food and good drink, so I have tried to partake in as much of it as I can. Food can be the centerpiece to many different forums amongst the Spaniards ranging from a beer and a tapa with a friend to a full-on dinner with 10 people at 11pm that could easily last until 1:30am or later. So today I will start with the restuarant/bar El Globo in Gijon, Spain. Gijon is a beautiful city that sits on the Cantabrian Sea on the northern coast of Spain. It is part of the Asturias region of Spain which has some of the greatest natural beauty that I have seen in the country. I was lucky enough to visit Gijon for the first time last year with my good friend Antxon Iturbe and his wife and son. He lived there for 6 years, and he showed me the best the city had to offer. So El Globo was the first spot I visited. They, among many other restaurants in Gijon, are well known for their seafood offerings. So the first two food choices will the Oricios - Sea Urchins - and the shrimp offered at El Globo
At first the oricios can be a little threatening. It is definitely a strong seafood taste. You eat them by scooping out the orange meat, which is the similar to the consistency of a pate, with a small spoon. The best way to describe the first taste would be similar to if you went to the sea to a rocky area and just dunked your head in tasting anything that comes your way. It is that salty. But after a couple times eating them, they really begin to grow on you. Their meat can be mixed into many different recipes, but going at them in their truest state brings out the best they have to offer.
Also at El Globo are the most delicious shrimp that I have ever tasted. Most of all us have tasted shrimp, so no need to go into much of a description, but these ones were so fresh, made with just a perfect amount of salt, simply wonderful:
And finally, it wouldn't be Asturias without a little Asturian cider. It is a tasty drink to polish off the great tasting seafood. But its consumption must be done with a little flair to it. In order to pour the cider you have to hold the glass down below your waist. Then you hold the bottle at eye level and aim for the glass. Pouring it this way mixes the air with the carbon dioxide in the cider releasing a pleasing perfume and bringing about the taste. And it is only poured in what would amount to a shot or two of alcohol, at which point you are supposed to drink all of it. I don't have a picture of a true professional pouring it, but when you find yourself at a restaurant in Gijon, just get our friend, Isidrin, to help out!
Check out my newest blog page as well, updated with photos and game results!
