Hello world and once again welcome to my blog!!!! If this is your first time, please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Glenn Stokes (170-G-76, agency: R.H.Consultancy, college: American) and I am the point guard for BS Weert, a team in the Dutch basketball League in Holland.

As you all know, I have been dealing wih a groin injury for the past few months... Last week I went to see a specialist for this injury and although the visit was very informative and helpful, I must say the procedure was VERY painful.. The Dr. was very educated about this injury due to the fact that he works with soccer players from Holland and abroad, therefore he knew exactly what the problem was and he had the solution to help speed up my recovery. He explained to me that the problem was I had some torn fibers in my leg/groin area and because some were torn and others were not there was some kind of conflict between them. He said I have been doing the right things as far as getting treatment, resting and stretching because that is the only thing you can do to recover from this kind of injury.

After asking a few questions, explaining the procedure he was going to do, he then asked if it was possible to stay away from making explosive movements for 14 day.... My reply knowing that we have a game the next day and will have a 4 game stretch in 11 days, 'NO, its not possible... I may take it easy in practice but I MUST PLAY'! I told him that I can deal with the pain, my only concern was if by playing and making explosive movements will it negate the treatment... He simply said that the worst case scenerio would be for me to come back after 14 days for another treatment. Finally I lay on the table, while one guy is holding my good leg in place not allowing me to bend or move it the Doctor pulls my bad leg back over my head and over to the side and back to straight ( basically in a SLOW circular motion, breaking or tearing all of the fibers in my leg/groin area).. He did this 4 times until you heard no more cracking. OOOUCH!!! He said by breaking all of the fibers up the healing process will begin with no conflicting...

After playing in two games and finally back to practicing, I'm starting to feel a little more flexibility in my leg which will allow me to make more moves and be more agile....

We have a cup game vs. Bergen Op Zoom.... So stay tuned for an update on my injury and my teams success. Until then I'm signing out... Thanks again for taking the time out to read my blog and please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or topics to be addressed and discussed through my blog.
