Yes, Ive been able to pick up on a few Dutch words/phrases. Luckily the majority of the people I encounter on the day-to-day basis are able to communicate with me in English! While Id love to learn the language, it has been extremely difficult to pick up on.

Looking back, it was much easier for me to pick up on both French and Italian than it is Dutch, probably because I was forced to take Spanish in College. I used to surprise myself when communicating with the locals in Italy and France, but I dont even try here in Germany.

Try ordering a pepperoni pizza in Dutch? Almost impossible, if you ask me! Lets just say Ive gotten a lot better in using sign language to communicate.

Aside from the overbearing language barrier, we are closing in on the 1st half of the season, which means a number of things. Normally, this time of the season I am looking forward to celebrating Christmas with family and friends, but this league doesnt allow its players to go home for the holiday. When first learning of this, I was heartbroken. In the past, the break allowed me to regroup and refresh for the 2nd half of the season. To be honest with you, while Id love to come home for a few days, Ive come to grips with the fact that it isnt an option this year so Im putting all of my energy in making the 2nd part of the season better than the first.

There are 5 games left before Christmas, and while we are 6-6 I truly believe that these next few games could be what we need to improve our record. Im passionate about the sport and my profession so anything less than a successful playoff run would be a disappointment. With that said, Im in it to win it, despite not having that much needed break.

Since my last post, Ive had the opportunity to contribute more to my team. Aside from the increased amount of minutes that I now play, Ive become better acquainted with my team. Theres a lot a foreign international athlete must adjust to when playing for a new team in a new country, and its not the easiest transition. While my contribution to the team has increased, I hope to prove to my team, coach and fans there is a lot more that I can offer.

On another note, some of you all may already know that former NBA All-Star Allen Iverson (184-G-75, college: Georgetown) is currently playing in Turkey and I had the privilege of watching him play on my home court. It may sound weird that Ive used the word privilege, but this is the guy that I looked up to the most growing up; he was the one that showed me anything is possible. While his team did not win, there was a lot of controversy surrounding it and a rematch is being discussed (Yes, I said rematch). I will keep you updated, if a rematch is scheduled!

I think thats about all Ill write on this post.I hope to keep you all updated a little more frequently.

Until next time, stay warm!

Heading back to the states...awaiting the next chapter- Apr.9, 2012  (by Eurobasket Center)

So the season has finally come to an end. Although we had a strong second half of the year we were unable to do all that we wanted to do. I think I had a solid first year individually but always think I could have done better. I am already looking forward to see where we will be next season. I definitely had a blast in my first season overseas. I made a lot of friends, saw a lot of places, improved different aspects of my game and opened myself up to new experiences [read more]

I'm 34 and your point is.....- Apr.5, 2012  (by Eurobasket Center)

So a close friend of mine the other day asked me what do you do want to do when you finish playing basketball? I thought for a second, and I really didnt have a clear answer or anything I could really say back to him. It is sort of funny cause my whole life I have been playing this game that I grew up to love and to be honest it is almost that time where I need to make that decision [read more]
Trying to finish strong- Feb.20, 2012  (by Eurobasket Center)

Whats up everyone. Its been awhile since my last post so I wanted to fill everyone in. Recently we have been playing much better and have a legit shot to stay in Pro A despite the fact that a lot of people had no doubt at all we would move down to pro A due to lack of experienced players. This is understandable considering starting the season we were the only team in the league without 1 player who had pro A experience [read more]
