Whats up Eurobasket, its been a while since my last blog. I am long overdue for an update on whats happening since Ive been back in the Czech Republic. First off, the offseason was great; we had a lot of fun spending time with family and friends that we havent seen in months! A change of scenery was also good and it definitely gave me a chance to recharge mentally and physically. Especially playing such a long season, time away from the game is not such a bad thing. We got back to the Czech Republic mid-August for preseason. It was great being back in familiar territory and seeing my teammates from last season and meeting the new ones. Catching up with everyone and finding out how everyones holiday was. Its always a good way to reconnect with everyone as we get back into the swing of things. Also seeing the fans and supporters in the city and saying hello really puts you back in the mindset that another season is about to start. I have to say this was one of the toughest preseasons Ive had in my career. But its important to build your body up physically for the long haul and the toll that the season takes on your body. I think one of the most important things an athlete can do, is to be at their best physically. Being out of shape can really mess with your psyche, so I try to eliminate that problem. Theres some things we cant control, but I feel this is something thats in my control so I rather hurt now by putting my body through the paces, so I wont hurt later when the season starts. The last thing I want to happen is for the start of the season to roll around and I am not ready to go mentally and physically because I think they go hand in hand. We did a lot of long distance running and sprints during the first few weeks before really hitting the court. I didnt know there were so many trails in Novy Jicin, you can really run for days with all the trails that are hidden in the in the forest/mountains. Its like a maze in there; I wonder how anyone found their way out. For a while I thought I was training for a cross country meet running through the mud, on gravel, jumping over fallen trees and grass that reaches the height of my knees. Did I mention it was scorching hot along with the grass making my skin itch? But its a part of the job description so I have to do it, I dont have a choice. Overall we had a very good preseason, our team has changed quite a bit from last year, but I think we will still be very competitive. We have a new point guard, shooting guard, and two big men. So far we are gelling pretty nicely. We are still learning each other and trying to become a more cohesive group. Its definitely a process and will take time, but with lots of practice I think well get there and hopefully be ready to go when the season starts. Our exhibition games have been good for us so far, its given us a chance to work on our system and to fine tune some things what we needed to get better at. Playing these games really help to expose our weaknesses and strengths and help to gauge us to see where we need to be before the start of the regular season. My focus coming into the preseason was to work on my body. I knew my cardio would eventually get better with the running we were doing during the week. But I wanted to get a little stronger, not necessarily bigger. So I really focused on doing dynamic work outs such as pushups, sit ups and body squats just to name a few. I havent hit the weight room much, Ive only really focused on my lower body in the weight room because I think thats the best way to maintain and strengthen your legs based on past experience. Just running up and down the floor wont do it for you. But I thank God I was able to make it through preseason without any major injuries. Thats never a good thing when you are trying to get ready for the season. We play our first game October 9th against Plzen, they are new to the NBL this season after being promoted from second division. Hopefully we will be sharp with our execution by then and get off to a good start. Thats always important for the moral of the team, fans and management. I am sure the fans are just as eager as we are to get it rolling and hopefully have a successful season in the process. In this business winning makes life a whole lot easier, so I hope we will continue to have success as weve done in the past!

Welcome to my blog (Semaj Inge (193-G-87, agency: I.D.S. Law, college: Temple)). This is my first blog post since I made the transition from Iceland to playing over in Czech Republic.
Now here we are in early December, and its about that time where most foreign players get a chance to return home for several days. These days are critical for players. This is the time where players get a chance to go home to be with their loved ones, eat some of their favorite foods, be around their native language and a variety of other things would usually not be available.
It is very important for these players to get this time because it benefits them greatly mentally. It helps them to mentally recharge and we all know that the game of basketball is 90% mental.
So I just wanted to wish everyone happy holidays, as you go about finishing out these few games strong.
